I know y’all know that money is no object for me; I’m quite wealthy, but sometimes I still get a thrill from a good bargain. Case in point: my old Sony stereo receiver died, after many vacuumings. It would fill up with sleepy cat hair annually but until last year a quick cover removal and a hit with the Shop-Vac would take care of it. The thermal distress eventually became too much, sad to say. I hung on to the remote like a fool because it was a really well-designed remote, and I thought I might find another of the same Sony receiver model to go with it. And today I did, for $9.99 at the Goodwill where I shop for rare books discarded by nitwits. Unfortunately it wouldn’t switch on. I should have bought it anyway, might be just a fuse. In fact I will tomorrow.
Speaking of bargain hunting, I will only be in New Orleans for a day on this trip, it looks like. I am gonna get a room at Motel 6 (my favorite bargain, it has a TV and a bed) but if anybody needs a house-sitter/pet-feeder/plant waterer for a day or two during the weekend, or you just want to hear me getting up from the couch, let me know.
I’ll have this guy for sale too:
