These used to be all over downtown New Orleans. Are they still?

very interesting flickr photostream

Least Wanted on flickr
I found it from Monica’s August 1, 2010 WFMU playlist (an excellent show, by the way).

setlist #3

image
One more in a series of rather random collected setlists I’ve been posting.
Not sure where I got this one (I’m guessing a club called Elbow Room? maybe to see a friends band?).
This was probably a rather obnoxious set and yet I can imagine enjoying it. Wait…no I can’t.
I think this was a band that opened for my brother’s band. If I saw the band I don’t remember it.

Question Mark and The Mysterians, twice in one day

Went to Lincoln Center and saw Question Mark and the Mysterians. Ronnie Spector walked by me in the audience, that was weird. I liked the daytime show (including the cover of “Satisfaction” that nobody else seemed to like) but I really liked the after party at Jones Cafe. Fill a shoebox with people, add booze and shake.

Bobby Womack is totally underrated

‎“If You Think You’re Lonely Now” is one of the most bad-ass songs to feature a harp. A great fly-on-the-wall moment would be to have been there when the producer made the phone call to the union or whatever to hire that harp player. “Yeah, Bobby Womack’s cutting this six-minute-long ‘fuck-you’ jam about some woman. It’s pretty much gonna be popular for the next thirty years. You guys got a harp player I could put on it? I want it to be classy.”

Here’s a great live version with Bobby in a sharp tux, looking diabolical as usual, singing about ‘when the skeletons come out of the closet, and chase your ass all around the room, and the memories stand up like a ghost, and dance around in a slow sad tune…AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!’...
