David Rhoden: HTML5 Animation
As a creative technologist, my role included animation, much of it banner animation. We were doing Flash, though I suggested using HTML5 as Flash support was disappearing from browsers. This idea was met with little enthusiasm until one day in December when we got a memo from AT&T saying all our ads had to be HTML, immediately.
That was fine with me. Here are a few of the animated ads I did (the ones I kept, really. I didn't put all the sizes up.). I used Tumult Hype for these, but you can make smaller CSS-based animations if you're willing to tell the art directors to cool it with the crazy transitions.
If you came here looking for less commercial, more joyous cartoon-type animations I've done, they're here.
